I'm baaaaaack!

Hello, hello everyone!! I am back!

I graduated my nail tech course on Tuesday with flying colors. I honestly can't express just how much I enjoyed the experience, or how much I feel that I really accomplished something. It's an amazing feeling and one I wouldn't trade. I also met some pretty awesome people that I hope I can have around for years to come.

During the last month and half/ two months, I was, of course, buying polish (prolly when I shouldn't have, ooops :P). One of the perks of going to school was getting a student ID for pro beauty supplies, which is how I obtained most of what I'm about to show you.

This first group are the OPIs.

Left to right, they are: Fresh Frog of Bel-Air, Unfor-greta-bly Blue, I Think In Pink, Every Month is Oktoberfest, Isn't That Precious?. Bogota Blackberry, and The "It" Color.

Next are the China Glazes:

Left to right, they are: Adventure Red-y. Deviantly Daring, Sweet Hook, Electra Magenta, Winter Berry, and Unpredictable.

The third group are the Zoyas:

Left to right: Lotus, Song, Frida, paloma Robyn, Kristen, Charisma, Elisa, Fei Fei, Suri, and Nimue.

Last but not least are some randoms:

Jessica Love Potion and Ruby Red, on each end, Sinful Colors Slate and Clementine, and Color Club Secret Rendezvous, Get a Clue, and Sheer Disguise.

I do intend to show swatches of these at some point, most likely on the appropriate swatch page. If it's possible for me, with the newer colors, I'll show more than one of them together. Tonight I'm gonna show you the two colors from OPI's Germany collection, Every Month is Oktoberfest and Unfor-greta-ably Blue.

I have to be honest here, I was rather underwhelmed by this collection. The colors are very pretty, but most of them just aren't for me. The only ones I wanted are the two I got. I have to say, though, that's I'm pretty happy with them. They both covered nicely with just two coats. EMIO I know for a fact doesn't stain; I've worn it twice already and had no problems with taking it off. I wore Greta for the first time today and have yet to take it of, but I'm expecting it to be a Smurfy mess.

Here are my pics, Oktoberfest first.

I used both top and basecoats in these pics. As you can, it's just beautiful. Up next is Greta.

Ok, I love this color, but I'm pretty positive it's a close dupe for Swimsuit... Nailed It! from the Miss Universe collection. I'll prolly do a dupe post with those two soon.

So there you have it! I'm glad to back and able to post more.

Dupes!

Good morning!

Today I bring you more dupes of OPI's Katy Perry collection, this one being of Last Friday Night. The dupe in question is Sinful Colors' Hottie.

In the bottle, they look practically the same.

On the nail, though, not so much alike. I'm gonna be honest, here; I prefer Hottie over LFN and I'll tell you why. I've have bad luck with LFN. My bottle of it is thick and hard to work with, even after adding thinner to it. Because of this, it chips badly and fast. Hottie, on the other, is a thinner formula and easier to apply. It's also just a tad bluer and the glitter is finer than LFN's. Hottie, in my opinion, is the better value and it's still available while LFN is not. I also know some other brands have their own dupes of LFN as well.

Two coats each, no topcoat. LFN on index and ring fingers, Hottie on the other two.

Only 5 days left!!!

Good morning!!!

That's right, I have only 5 days left of my Nail Tech course!! Next Tuesday is officially my graduation day =D I'm absolutely thrilled!

It's hard to believe that these last several weeks are already coming to an end...... But I'm excited by the things to come and by the changes I've observed in myself along the way. I can't ever remember feeling as confidant about myself and my abilities as I do now. It's a wonderful feeling. As of yet, I don't have a job lined up but I do have a few leads. I do plan on continue blogging during the interim, and have a few special things planned in the near future, such as a whole month of pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I also intend to swatch and post allllll the polish I've gotten, and believe me, I'm a little embarrassed by that :P

Thank you, my wonderful readers, for sticking around while I've been attending class. I'll be back posting, possibly as soon as next Wednesday! Laters!!

More dupes!

Good morning!

Today, I get to eat my words about one polish being a dead on dupe for another. In my defense, though, this is first I've compared these two side by side. For comparison, I bring to you OPI's Teenage Dream and Sally Hansen's Strobe Light.

In the bottle, they look to pretty darn close, almost dead on.

On the nail, though, it's another story. SL isn't as close as I originally thought; it's a touch pinker, the glitter isn't as dense, and it doesn't have the ultra fine silver glitter that TD has. Considering that TD isn't available now, SL is good substitute, and I know there are other brands with dupes out there.

Two coats each, no topcoat. TD on index and ring fingers, SL on middle and little fingers.

Dupe Monday

Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I bring to you for today's dupe post two glitters that were released as part of holiday collections last year. One is the Ulta exclusive How's it Snowin'?, the other is China Glaze's Tinsel Town. I found it kind of odd that these were release pretty at the same time, and you'll see why.

In the bottle, they appear to be the same thing: silver and charcoal glitter in a greyish base.

Two coats, no topcoat, on the nail, HIS on index and ring fingers, TT on middle and little fingers. Verdict- yeah, they are the same. There's no getting around it. If you have one, you for sure don't need the other. Both are no longer available, so you're either left having to dusty hunt for either or buy online.

Dupe Monday

Good morning!

Here is part two to last week's comparison. For last week's post, I compared OPI's Dim Sum Plum and Ate Berries in the Canaries. Today's part two is between  Ate Berries in the Canaries and Zoya Reagan.

In the bottle, they look exactly the same.

On the nail, two coats of each, Reagan on index and ring fingers, ABITC middle and little fingers, no topcoat. Can you tell the difference? Because I sure can't! This is truly a case of brand preference as far as picking which to buy. Reagan is definitely still available, as it was just released with the Beach & Surf collection. ABITC I believe is still available as well, as part of OPI's core collection.
